LIEZL ROUX
Director
Liezl is a CIMA and SAIPA-qualified accountant who is passionate about helping businesses excel at what they do through sound accounting practices. With a keen eye for detail and an approachable manner that clients love, Liezl uses her depth of accounting and tax experience to craft a personalised experience for each client. She believes in taking the time to get under the skin of each business and truly understand their unique challenges.
Before founding Valyoo, Liezl worked as a finance manager at Blaauwklippen Agricultural Estate and as a manager at Moore Stephens Management Services. She holds a Hons Bcom degree in Management Accounting from Stellenbosch University and became a Professional Accountant (SA) at SAIPA in 2013 and a Chartered Global Management Accountant (ACMA | CGMA) at CIMA in 2014. Liezl is also a registered tax practitioner. She also deepened her tax knowledge by completing a Post Graduate Diploma in Tax Law at Stellenbosch University. When she is not advising clients on their business affairs, Liezl enjoys cooking, connecting with nature and travelling to exotic places.
MARIETTE MARAIS
Accountant/Consultant
Mariette is a seasoned accountant and business consultant whose motto is that small things done right can have a big impact. She has extensive experience in the agriculture sector and has also had exposure to NPO’s (e.g. schools, churches) and the automotive industry.
She excels at guiding clients with detailed accounting services, as well as regulatory requirements. She believes in adding value to business growth by assisting with management accounts, financial statements, budgets, forecasts, analytics and other information requirements. Fiercely loyal to her clients, she will go above and beyond to help build their businesses and shape their success.
Before joining Valyoo, Mariette spent 11 years at PwC as an assistant manager and a decade at Winfield United South Africa, in many senior roles including management accountant, group accountant and financial manager.
Mariette holds an Honours degree in Accounting Science from Unisa and is a SAIPA-qualified accountant. Outside of the office, Mariette loves spending time in the beautiful outdoors, whether it’s hiking or mountain biking.
MELISSA ROSS
Accountant
Melissa is a skilled finance professional and accountant with over a decade of experience in various sectors, including manufacturing, banking, investment and agriculture. She prides herself on her hard work and dedication to finding effective solutions that empower business success.
During her foundation years at Standard Bank, she developed excellent interpersonal and communication skills through her exposure to a wide variety of clients, from individuals to businesses. She worked as a treasury and contributions specialist at Sanlam Investments, and gained valuable experience at the Shoprite Group in both group finance (salary accounts officer) and human resources (staff buying team leader). She followed that experience as an accountant for WinField United South Africa (WUSA), a key player in the global and local agricultural landscape. Melissa assisted subsidiary companies InteliGro and InteliChem with various accounting tasks, management accounts, financial statements, budgets, audit preparations, reporting and other financial projects.
Melissa holds a B.Com in Financial Management and has honed her expertise in analysing and understanding financial data. She always strives to build lasting relationships with clients by understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions. When she’s not interpreting numbers, Melissa enjoys spending quality time with her family, walking on the beach and exploring nature.
